The Constitutional Court of Bulgaria and four other constitutional jurisdictions discussed communication policies within the scope of the Balkan Constitutional Courts Forum.

The first round table of its kind on “Challenges and Best Practices in Communicating High-Profile Constitutional Court Rulings: A Comparative Analysis” was held on December 8 in Pristina, initiated and hosted by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo, with the support of the Council of Europe.

The chief secretaries, advisors, and media experts of the constitutional courts of Bulgaria, Turkey, Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia, as well as the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic, took part in the seminar.

The Bulgarian delegation included the Chief Secretary of the Court Valentin Georgiev and the Referent Nina Delimarinova. Together with their colleagues from other constitutional jurisdictions, they shared their experience and best practices in the field of communicating important decisions of interest to the public. Focus was placed on the challenges of dealing with cases of misinterpretation of court decisions in the era of digital media, as well as on ways to raise awareness of the work of constitutional courts.

The Balkan Constitutional Courts Forum was founded on October 27, 2023, in Sofia on the initiative of the Bulgarian Constitutional Court, with the aim of exchanging experience and good practices between constitutional jurisdictions in the Balkans on current issues in the field of constitutional justice. Its members are the constitutional courts of Bulgaria, Turkey, Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo, and North Macedonia.
