A delegation from the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Bulgaria paid an official visit to the Constitutional Council of the French Republic in Paris.

The Bulgarian delegation arrived in the French capital at the Council’s invitation and was represented by Constitutional Court President Pavlina Panova, Constitutional Court judges Atanas Semov, Yanaki Stoilov, and Nevin Feti, as well as Court legal advisors Alexander Tsekov and Stiliana Stoyanova.

During the visit, representatives of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Bulgaria held a meeting with the President of the Constitutional Council, Richard Ferrand.

The visit continued with a bilateral working meeting, during which the two constitutional courts had the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences related to their practices. Representing the hosts were Véronique Malbec, a member of the Constitutional Council, and Aline Atchrimi, a senior specialist in the President’s office; as well as Catherine Leroy, Secretary General of the Constitutional Council, and Stéphane Cottin, Director of the Documentation Center.

The topics discussed included political rights, the legality of elections, and control over the financing of political parties, as well as freedom of expression in relation with fake news as threats to democracy.
