The organization's status is based on the Memorandum signed in Sofia in 2023
The six member states of the Balkan Constitutional Courts Forum – Bulgaria, Turkey, Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo, and North Macedonia – adopted the organization's charter during its Third Annual Conference in Antalya.
The document is based on the Memorandum of Understanding for Establishment of the Forum, signed in Sofia in 2023. It received the unanimous support of the representatives of the constitutional jurisdictions, who took another step towards establishing the organisation. The members of the Balkan Constitutional Courts Forum also adopted a joint declaration.
The delegation of the Constitutional Court of Bulgaria was represented by its President Pavlina Panova, Constitutional Judges Galina Toneva and Nevin Feti, as well as by the Chief Secretary of the Court Valentin Georgiev and the Referent Desislava Kemalova.
The main topic of the third annual meeting in Antalya was "Standardisation of Human Rights and the Role of Constitutional Justice". The report presented by Constitutional Judge Nevin Feti in the second panel of discussions was also on the topic of "Standardisation of Human Rights and the Role of Constitutional Justice".
The delegates decided that North Macedonia will be the next country to host the Balkan Constitutional Courts Forum next year.
The Balkan Constitutional Courts Forum was founded on October 27, 2023, in Sofia on the initiative of the Bulgarian Constitutional Court, with the aim of exchanging experience and good practices between the constitutional jurisdictions of the Balkans on current issues in the field of constitutional justice.
