The three-day forum focused on the challenges and opportunities facing courts in protecting the rights of future generations
A delegation from the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Bulgaria participated in the Sixth Congress of the World Conference on Constitutional Justice (WCCJ). The event, organized by the Constitutional Court of Spain and the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, took place from October 28 to 30, 2025, in Madrid. The main theme of the three-day forum was "The Human Rights of Future Generations".
Representatives of 88 constitutional courts and equivalent institutions, including the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Bulgaria, represented by its President Pavlina Panova, Constitutional Judges Prof. Yanaki Stoilov and Prof. Atanas Semov, as well as the Chief Secretary of the institution Valentin Georgiev, focused their discussions on the challenges and opportunities facing constitutional courts in protecting the rights of future generations.
Among the topics of the working panels were:
"The preservation of Natural Resources and the Environment";
"Preservation of Humankind’s Cultural Heritage";
"Access to scientific knowledge and new techno Access to Scientific Knowledge and New Technologieslogies".
The program also included a special session dedicated to the independence of constitutional courts and equivalent institutions.
His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain officially closed the Sixth Congress of the World Conference on Constitutional Justice after the closing speeches by Claire Basi Mallory, President of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, and Candido Conde-Pumpido Turón, President of the Constitutional Court of Spain.
