Constitutional Court Judge Borislav Belazelkov participated in an international conference marking the 17th anniversary of the establishment of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo.
The event took place on October 22 in Pristina, and its theme was “The Role of Constitutional Courts in Safeguarding Democracy and the Democratic Functioning of Institutions”.
During the working panels, international and European legal standards were discussed sources of constitutional interpretation, including the case law of the European Court of Human Rights, international human rights instruments, and the work of the Venice Commission. Other issues raised included how constitutional courts can exercise final interpretive authority while preserving democratic legitimacy, and how constitutional review can guarantee democratic values, institutional balance, and the rule of law.
