On 16-18 June 2025 a bilateral meeting was held in Sofia between the Constitutional Courts of Italy and Bulgaria. The members of the Italian Constitutional Court who took part in the meeting were President Giovanni Amoroso and the Judges Stefano Petitti, Filippo Patroni Griffi and Massimo Luciani, while from the Bulgarian side all twelve Constitutional Court Judges participated.

The working sessions began with institutional greetings by the two Presidents, Pavlina Panova and Giovanni Amoroso. On the first day, the floor was taken by Judge Yanaki Stoilov together with Judge Stefano Petitti of the Italian Court to discuss the topic “Citizens’ Access to Constitutional Justice”. Judge Atanas Semov together with his Italian colleague Judge Filippo Patroni Griffi presented their contributions in the session on “The Institutional Dialogue between the Constitutional Court, the Court of Justice of the European Union, and the European Court of Human Rights – its Significance and Impact on the Practice of the National Constitutional Court”. On the second day, Judge Nevin Feti and Judge Massimo Luciani took the floor in the session on “Freedom of Expression and Political Pluralism in the Jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court”.

The two Presidents concluded by expressing their satisfaction with the papers presented and the discussions that resulted thereof and expressed their intention to continue and further deepen the bilateral cooperation between the Bulgarian and the Italian Constitutional Courts.
