The Constitutional Court regretfully announces the passing of Valentin Georgiev, the institution’s Secretary General.

He was a long-time head of the Constitutional Court’s administration, having assumed the position in 2017. One of the focal points of his work was international activity, where through his active participation and initiatives, the Constitutional Court of Bulgaria continues to achieve success and prestige on the international scene.

Valentin Georgiev is a graduate of the First English Language High School in Sofia. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and subsequently specialized in the Economics Program at the School of International Affairs at Georgetown University in Washington.

He has held various government positions, including advisor to the Foreign Investment Commission of the Council of Ministers, chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Privatization Agency, advisor on legislative acts to the Council of Ministers, advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, and advisor to the EU's PHARE Program. 

Before assuming leadership roles in the administration of the Constitutional Court, he served as Secretary General of the National Assembly from 1997 to 2001, and from 2002 to 2016 he was Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria.

The Constitutional Court will provide further details regarding the memorial service.
