Eight Bulgarian judges are participating in the forum organized by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Court of Justice of the European Union, which will take place from September 3 to 5 in Sofia

 

Four main topics will be part of the programme of the international conference EUnited in Diversity‘ III, which the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) will co-organise and host in Sofia from 3 to 5 September 2025.

The programme of the event, whose main theme is The Role of Constitutional Justice in the Common Legal Order of the European Union, is structured around professional discussions divided into four panels:

  • The Allocation of Competences between the Member States and the European Union
  •  Identity of the EU and EU constitutionalism in times of crisis: Constitutional Courts and the Court of Justice
  •  Different National Constitutional Law Constellations Relevant for EU law
  • Application and Interpretation of EU Law: Constitutional Courts and the Court of Justice

The third edition of the high-level forum, which takes place every two years, will gather in the Bulgarian capital this week representatives of the Constitutional Courts and equivalent institutions of twenty-one EU Member States.

Bulgaria, as host, will enjoy broad representation at the first such meeting held in the country. The Constitutional Court will be represented by eight of its justices, including President Pavlina Panova, Justices Atanas Semov, Yanaki Stoilov, Sonia Yankulova, Borislav Belazelkov, Galina Toneva, Sasho Penov, Nevin Feti, as well as by the Secretary General of the institution, Valentin Georgiev.
