On 17 July 2026, the Constitutional Court instituted Constitutional Case No. 14/2026 at the request of 49 Members of Parliament from the 52nd National Assembly, seeking a declaration of the unconstitutionality of Item 3.1, Item 3.2, Item 3.3, and Annex No. 1 to Item 3.2 of the Rules on the Conduct of Public Consultations and the Procedure for the Appointment of the Composition of the Central Election Commission, approved by Presidential Decree No. 170 of 29 May 2026 of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, on the grounds that they are inconsistent with Article 4(1), Article 6, Article 8, Article 10, and Article 11(1) of the Constitution.
