On June 30, 2026, the Constitutional Court initiated Constitutional Case No. 13/2026 at the request of the Sofia District Court, Panel 151, to determine the unconstitutionality of the provision of Article 36a, paragraph 1, of the Bar Act (published in the State Gazette, No. 17 of February 13, 2026, effective February 17, 2026) in the part providing that when a law provides for the appointment of a special representative, the Bar Council of the bar association in the judicial district where the relevant court is located, before which the case is pending, shall determine the amount of the special representative’s remuneration under the conditions of Article 36, paragraphs 3 and 4, due to its inconsistency with Article 117, paragraphs 2 and 3, of the Constitution.
