At its sitting on 28 April 2026, the Constitutional Court issued a ruling in Constitutional Case No. 4/2026, thereby rejecting the request of the Sofia City Court, Criminal Division, 16th Panel, to declare unconstitutional Part Four, “Execution of the Pre-trial Detention Measure,” and Article 248(1)(1) of the Law on the Execution of Sentences and Pre-trial Detention (published in the State Gazette, No. 25 of 2009, last amended in the State Gazette, No. 16 of 2026), and terminates the proceedings in the case.
Twelve constitutional judges participated in the sitting.
The Resolution was adopted unanimously.
