On March 23, 2026, the Constitutional Court initiated Constitutional Case No. 7/2026 at the request of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria to determine the unconstitutionality of the National Assembly’s Decision of March 13, 2026 requiring the Council of Ministers to submit to the National Assembly a draft law ratifying the accession of the Republic of Bulgaria as a founding member to the Charter of the Council for Peace, established at the initiative of the United States, due to a conflict with Art. 4, para. 1, Art. 8, and Art. 105, para. 1 of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria, as well as a conflict with the binding interpretation of the Constitutional Court, issued in Decision No. 10 of September 28, 2021, in Constitutional Case No. 8 of 2021 of the Constitutional Court.
