On March 23, 2026 The Constitutional Court initiated Constitutional Case No. 6/2026 at the request of the Sofia City Court, 16th Panel, to determine the “incompatibility between Art. 27, para. 2, Art. 38, para. 2, item 2, as well as the words ‘... are not serving a custodial sentence” in Article 350(1) and (2), Article 351(1) and (2), Article 396(1) and (2), Art. 397, para. 1 and para. 2 of the Election Code, and Art. 5, para. 4 in conjunction with para. 2, Art. 10, Art. 31, para. 5, Art. 56, Art. 57, para. 1, and Art. 122, para. 1 of the Constitution.”
The judge presiding over the case is Judge Desislava Atanasova.
